“Sound and prudent judgement based on a simple perception of the situation and facts” – This is how common-sense is defined in Merriam-Webster dictionary.
But it is really based on simple perception ? And is prudent and sound ?
The irony being, I guess, the definition itself having the word judgement, which invokes a certain degree of subjectiveness. And this starts the fun!!
Do note, am no expert on the English language. And the only reason I write to thus question this definition, is perhaps, based on my observations and experiences, I have found common-sense to be really uncommon!
Let me share a few (and add more as I experience more!), which form the premise of this write up. And then leave the question open. As I do not seek an answer or validation, but just invoke the thought. As is the intent of creating this blog on mine. To let the thoughts flow !
Where the mask needs to be placed !
Now, am not trying to advocate if the mask is helpful or not, let’s leave that to the qualified medical professionals. But it was understand, that the mask was for our nose and mouth. Ironically, I had the privilege of observing the mask placed at quite an expansive options including at the chin or at elbow or as a bandana or at the neck as muffler, eh !
Rules are meant to be broken !
But why so? Is that not counter intuitive? Like we form rules, with the intention of them being broken, and thus recreate or revise them again.
It is not my problem !
This seems to be edging on the border line of being selfish. And is again counter intuitive, with us being a part of the wider society.
